Emergency Contraception (ECP) is a back-up
method of birth control that every female
should have in their possession.  In doing so
you can be assured of immediate access and
not have to rely on pharmacy hours or in store
supply.
ECP is indicated in the event of  unprotected intercourse, broken
condom, sexual assault/rape, or break or disruption in contraceptive
method.  ECP Is NOT a form of abortion. Its use prevents ovulation thus
decreases the chances of unplanned pregnancy to 1% if used ASAP!
Is
NOT intended to be used as a method of birth control.

Sperm can survive in a female's body for 5 days!  Although frequently
referred to as "the morning after pill" it should
always be taken ASAP
after an episode of unprotected sex (regardless of the reason) and no
later than 120 hours.  ECP can be highly effective but if you miss a
period----be sure to come in for a pregnancy test ASAP.

Package instructions say to take one pill
    twelve hours apart---however we STRONGLY
recommend taking both pills at the same time.
Studies done since ECP was approved by the
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have
shown that no increase in side effects occur
when taken at the same time.  So this makes it
simpler for you to do and decreases the
chance of that 2nd pill being missed or taken
    late.

ECP is indicated in the event of:
unprotected intercourse
broken condom
condom that has fallen off during intercourse  or during
withdrawal or "pulling out"
sexual assault or rape
ECP is NOT a form of abortion!
Prevents/inhibits ovulation
Reduces the chance of an unplanned pregnancy from 8% down to
1% if taken ASAP
Is not intended to be used as an ongoing method of birth control
If ECP is used----we strongly recommend making an appointment to:
obtain a consistent method of birth control OR
change your method if you're having difficulty using
             what you're on
be seen in 2 weeks for STD testing ---even if you don't
             have any symptoms
